This idyllic 5 star piece of paradise is situated along the Standford/Hermanus lagoon and lends itself to the ultimate in luxury and tranquility.
I was called in to assist in the refurb of their lapa lounge, dining room and their bedrooms in the Lagoon Lodge. Drawing on and inspired by the textures within the space, allowed for a natural extension into the earthy tones of the fabrics and all the new the pieces of furniture selected and made.
The client wanted an unfussy yet sophisticated space. Making it easy for the guests to totally unwind and literally put their feet up. I introduced a few eclectic pieces like the hand made, wood fired ceramic pendants and included natural weaves within the selected fabrics.
The refresh of the individual five chalets, were inspired by the abundant birdlife and acres of fynbos surrounding the lodge. These exclusive suites, all nestled in between ancient milkwoods, were themed; the Kingfisher, Pincushion, Sunbird etc that extend into the colour palette of the fabrics.
Working from a neutral base we played with relevant colours and textures to reflect this. Striking and bold combinations were introduced to contrast well with the natural elements of the existing structure.

The old pieces of milkwood allowed for the organic design and creation of the lightstands in each of the rooms. This, together with the subtle hints of luxury in the fabrics, made a striking combination.
All of the wood, thatch and stone used within the framework of the lodge when it was originally built, was originally harvested and fashioned from the farm and this further enabled a lovely tactile connection between the décor, the individual fireplaces and outside showers.
It was truly inspiring working with existing raw elements and upcycling various materials to meet the clients brief. An added bonus is that all the vegies grown on the farm all contribute to their world class, delicious menus.
What Our Clients Say
We worked with Sue on a project at Mosaic Private Sanctuary, renovating our Lagoon Lodge and replacing furniture and fabrics for cushions and drapery. We had a very tight schedule to complete the project before we had a media launch for our Elemis BIOTEC Facials and products at our Mosaic Spa. Sue ‘pulled rabbits out of her hat’ to get the design concepts together, get orders completed and products on site prior to our launch. Everything was delivered on time and Sue personally came out to make sure everything was placed and styled perfectly, making us very happy clients! Thanks to Sue for all her work!
Sue Lloyd-Roberts heads up a hands-on, committed team of dedicated professionals who tackle Mint’s projects with respect, energy and knowledge that make the entire process run smoothly.
